...in which he gives form to various universal aspects of our shared human experience.
Although he is a graduate of the New York Institute Of Photography, his first artistic love is classical portrait sculpture, being an ardent admirer of works by Jean-Antoine Houdon and others. However, his strong desire to 'capture the mood of a fleeting moment' as exempli- fied by impressionistic painters like Claude Monet led him to choose photography as his medium of expression.
Using a method that he calls 'living light sculpture', Chauvin creates works that are as evocative as they are beautiful. In addition, his photographs are completely unretouched as he chooses to employ lighting and camera techniques alone to realize each image.
